The famous American R&B singer, Beyoncé Knowles, started traveling around the city after a warm welcome from millennium festival organizing officials, children with flowers and others who received her.

The Multi-Grammy award winner went to various sights in the capital Addis Ababa, including the government residences, palace and national attractions. She also went to the Addis Ababa Museum before ending at a banquet organized for her.

Before her big performance at the concert, Beyonce also planted tree seedlings, part of the Ethiopian Millennium tree planting campaign known as “Two Trees for 2000.” The joyful singer felt very much at home before a rare performance in the continent. She sang many of her well-known songs including “Crazy in Love”- also a fan favorite in Addis Ababa.

She performed at the Multi-million dollar “Millennium Concert Hall" in Addis, built by the businessman and philanthropist Ethiopian billionaire Sheik Mohamed Hussein Al-Amoudi.

Many people from different countries came to Ethiopia both to attend her concert and experience the Ethiopian millennium, which helped bring a much needed tourist revenue to the city’s businesses & hotels who received less tourists for the millennium than expected. People who couldn’t afford the tickets complained Saturday because the state owned national television didn’t show Beyonce’s performance, as it did during the Black Eye Peas concert in September.
